Perhaps because of the infinite variability of the human being, I find anything and everything about human beings interesting. That is why I like to teach Spanish as a means to broaden the experience of my students with the human population. Spain Spanish is different from Latin American Spanish just as British English is different from American English. Some feel a right to snobbery over their language, but it is not that one is better than the other. It is simply that they are different.
Galileo is quoted as saying, "I've never met a man so ignorant that I could not learn something from him." How much more wisdom can we gain when we are not restricted by language barriers.
